The Production Method
Salcombe ‘Start Point’ Gin is distilled using a traditional copper pot still to the respected London Dry method. This involves redistilling neutral spirit with juniper, citrus peels and spice botanicals. The gin is then cut to bottling strength using pure Dartmoor spring water.
Salcombe ‘Sea Mist’ undergoes a similar distillation process but with the addition of samphire, coastal herbs and Cornish sea salt to achieve its signature oceanic taste.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, ‘Start Point’ offers zesty orange and hints of peppery juniper.
The palate is smooth and balanced with pronounced grapefruit, lemon peel and subtle pine notes.
The finish is dry yet refreshing.
‘Sea Mist’ imparts delicate aromas of sea breeze and lemon balm.
The first sip reveals crisp samphire and herbaceous notes, followed by a saline minerality.
