Viñas del Vero, ‘Coleccion’, Gewürztraminer
Somontano | Spain

Clean and floral with pronounced lychee flavours. Stunning, aromatic wine. One of the best Gewurztraminers to come out of Spain.
About the Producer
The “El Enebro” single estate was planted in 1990. The soil is loam and the vineyard lies at 400 metres above sea level, facing north. The microclimate and the nature of the soil are just right for the Gewürztraminer grape, which has found its ideal Spanish habitat in Somontano.
We chilled the grapes & macerated them for seven hours. Then we drew off the free-run juice and fermented it at a low temperature, preventing it from fully fermenting in order to retain the residual levels of natural sugar present in the grapes.

Fun Fact
Gewürz means ‘spicy’ and Traminer means ‘from Tramin’, a small town in Southern Tyrol. Experts believe the grape is named after this town so literally means ‘The spicy wine from Tramin’.
