In 1553, Sir Gilles of Gouberville mentioned in his diaries the practice of distilling cider to make apple brandy. This is believed to be the first notable reference to the production of Calvados. The Pere Magloire brand was founded in 1821 by the Debrise Dulac company and by 1900, the brand Calvados Pere Magloire had become the most important Calvados brand in the whole of France. 
Hailing from France’s legendary Normandy cider orchards, family-owned Maison Pere Magloire crafts some of the world’s most exquisite aged Calvados brandies. Aged for no less than 4 years in oak, their multi-award-winning Pere Magloire Calvados VSOP makes the perfect digestif or unique cocktail base.

The heritage Pere Magloire house has been perfecting its Calvados mastery for over two centuries, excelling through innovation while honouring time-honoured cidermaking and distilling traditions passed down generations.
For the VSOP, the cellar master hand selects traditional Norman cider apples from trusted family growers surrounding the Pays d’Auge estate. After patient fermentation and double pot distillation, the apple brandy ages in French Limousin oak for at least 4 years.

Tasting Note

Apple blossom, jasmine and white rose on the nose, surrounded by ripe apple, apricot and meadow honey. Vanilla cream, butterscotch and hazelnut on the first sip, embraced by subtle oak tannins. A finish of praline and baked apple, with traces of cinnamon and clove lingering around candied apple and brown sugar.
