Skylark Distillery is an independent small craft distillery in South Cornwall founded by Alex Palmer-Samborne. We are fortunate to operate from a traditional Cornish barn surrounded by the botanicals which help to make Lantic Gin unique.
We began the journey with a traditional two litre copper still, an open mind and a self taught process. We researched different distilling techniques, experimented with locally foraged botanicals, and fined tuned our Lantic Gin recipe over many months.
We then summoned our gin-loving friends for ‘constructive’ tasting sessions until we felt comfortable that we had finally found a recipe which moved away from a heavy juniper flavoured gin to a more easy drinking gin. Consequently we scaled up production from 1 bottle to just 170 bottles per batch.
Lantic Gin derived its name from the picturesque Lantic Bay which is steeped in spirit smuggling history and where a number of the gin’s botanicals are foraged.
