Genetie ‘Les Piliers’, Mâcon-Charnay-lès-Mâcon
Burgundy | France

Appealing with good depth of flavour and underlying finesse that provides wonderful length and unfolding flavours – think of freshly cut hay and meadow sweet for the nose, crunchy greengages for the palate, and some candied peel for the final notes.
About the Producer
Plots in Mâcon-Charnay-lès-Mâcon lie on higher Mont du Mâconnais slopes with varied soils dominated by limestone. Harvest is by hand and machine—the latter allows early morning picking to preserve freshness. After pressing and settling, must is cooled to 12°C for controlled fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation. Winemaker Samantha selects from up to 20 tanks to craft GENETIE ‘Les Piliers’, a blend balancing floral, exotic, and mineral notes, aged on fine lees to combine southern Burgundy warmth with local elegance.
Food Pairing
Grilled fish, chicken in cream sauce (poulet à la crème), asparagus & mushroom risotto, fish chowder, a traditional roast chicken with all the trimmings, or even a cheese platter – particularly goat’s cheese.
