About the Producer
The Ancient Vines Mourvèdre comes from some of our oldest, low-yielding vineyards in the unique Oakley terroir, cooled by air from the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers. Yields are limited to 2-3 tonnes per acre to concentrate the dark, dusty berry fruit. Grapes are harvested by ripeness, fully de-stemmed, and gently crushed to keep whole berries intact. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks with selected cultured yeasts at controlled temperatures to optimize flavor and color extraction. The wine is pressed dry, then aged 10 months in 30% new dark toasted American oak, followed by time in neutral barrels.
Food Pairing
Goes exceptionally well with grilled lamb or pork, sautéed asparagus and curried deviled eggs. Also fab with rack of lamb, duck confit are steak tartare.
