Château Lalande, Saint-Julien

Bordeaux | France

A powerful wine displaying textbook aromas of pencil lead and tea chest. The palate is well-structured with intense cassis fruit and fine-grained tannins.

About the Producer

Château Lalande is made up from 55% Cabernet, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc and is perfectly situated between Châteaux Talbot and Lagrange (classified in 1855 as fourth and third growths respectively). This enviable position elevates what is in fact a simple petite château to something quite special. Grapes are carefully harvested before being destemmed and crushed and transferred to temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Fermentation lasts around 10-15 days, with 7 days maceration. The wine spends 12 months in oak, around 30% of which is new (depending upon the nature of the vintage).

Food Pairing
