KWV was founded in 1918, the same year South Africa’s first democratically elected president, Nelson Mandela, was born. In the space of just over a century, the country and its wine industry have seen many changes – and KWV, as the company who united wine farmers during the industry’s fledgling and struggle years, is privileged to feature prominently in the annals of South African history.

Today South Africa is a global player in the world of wine, with KWV a respected company that leads through innovation and quality. With its many award-winning wines, spirits and liqueurs, KWV honours its original objective of showcasing the quality of South Africa’s wine products to the world.

In 2018, KWV celebrated its centenary, a number appropriately reflected in the company’s current market standing. The company’s well-established roots in South Africa has given it international strength: KWV has a global footprint with a portfolio of brands represented in about 100 markets.
