Montresor Lugana Bio: A Vibrant Organic White from Lake Garda

Montresor Lugana Bio is produced by Montresor, a family-run winery founded in 1898 overlooking Italy’s picturesque Lake Garda. Committed to organic farming, Montresor crafts expressive whites that showcase the native grapes of this subalpine region, including aromatic Trebbiano di Lugana.

Viticulture and Vinification

The Turbiana grapes for this Lugana are sourced from vineyards nestled between the picturesque towns of Sirmione and Peschiera del Garda in northern Italy. This tiny wine region straddles the border between Lombardy and Veneto along the southern shores of Lake Garda. The vines grow in sandy clay soils and are trained in the Guyot system. After a gentle hand harvest, the grapes are cooled then undergo a cold soak for 10 hours before pressing. The juice settles before fermenting at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks using selected yeasts. The wine matures on its fine lees for 6 months with occasional batonnage to develop complexity.
