About the Producer
Maison SAUVION is nestled in the heart of the Nantes vineyards, at the Château du Cléray-Sauvion in Eolié—Aeolia, the “land of the winds,” a poetic nod to the gentle ocean breeze that softly sweeps through the vines.
Acquired by Ernest Sauvion in 1935, Château du Cléray-Sauvion is one of the oldest estates in the Sèvre et Maine appellation, distinguished by its historic vaulted cellars. The estate spans 95 hectares, primarily dedicated to Muscadet Sèvre & Maine, alongside plantings of Gros-Plant, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon. The vineyard’s silty-clay soils form a late-ripening yet remarkably rich terroir, ideal for producing wines with excellent structure and impressive ageing potential.
