About Jindea Distillery

Nestled in the lush green foothills of the Himalayas lies Jindea Distillery, founded by Anand Virmani and his wife Ritu. They meticulously handcraft small-batch artisanal spirits that reconnect India’s ancient distilling traditions with contemporary gin making.

The distillery sources the finest Indian teas and botanicals to produce unique gins in their traditional copper pot still named ‘Malti’. By using fresh spring water from the Himalayas and distilling their spirits very slowly, Jindea Gins reflect the beautiful Indian terroir.

Jindea Distillery aims to showcase how Indian gins can hold their own against the finest from London. They are part of the movement bringing the old-world craft of distilling back to life in India.

Made with First Flush Darjeeling Tea
The Jindea Single Estate Tea Gin starts with the exceptionally delicate and floral first flush Darjeeling tea leaves. These are hand-plucked during springtime on a single estate in the Himalayan Mountains of West Bengal.

The unique growing conditions and weather in this region produce Darjeeling’s famous muscatel flavours – light, fruity and flowery tasting notes resembling muscat wine. That’s why Darjeeling tea is called the “Champagne of Tea” and unlike any other black tea in the world.

The Jindea Gin perfectly captures the beautiful citrusy and stone fruit notes like peach, apricot and grapefruit from the first flush Darjeeling tea leaves. These contribute a refreshing yet smooth quality to the gin.

Complex Botanical Blend

To complement the fantastic flavour profile of the single estate Darjeeling tea, Jindea Distillery meticulously selects ten botanicals steeped in their ‘Malti’ copper pot still.

Alongside the prominent tea notes, you’ll savour a symphony of aromatics like spicy ginger, cardamom and cinnamon paired with bright citrus from lemon, grapefruit and coriander. Gentle flavors of Himalayan piney juniper, nutty angelica and licorice-y fennel balance the blend.

By using just the right combination of Indian spices, fruits and herbs with Darjeeling tea, Jindea Gin reflects the rich biodiversity of Indian botanicals from seed to sip.

Tasting Notes
