False Bay, ‘Old School’, Syrah
Coastal Region | South Africa

Full yet elegant, bursting with bramble fruit and black cherry with a touch of white pepper spice.
About the Producer
The grapes for False Bay Old School Syrah come from two low-yielding, coastal vineyards in Stellenbosch, chosen for their cooler climate and concentrated berries. Made by Waterkloof’s Cellarmaster Nadia Langenegger, the hand-picked grapes are fermented with wild yeast (some whole-bunch) and matured in large French oak foudre. No additions are made apart from a touch of sulphur. The result is a fine, spicy Syrah—definitely more Syrah than Shiraz. Grown, made and bottled in South Africa. Vegan friendly. Sustainably farmed, hand harvested, wild fermented, cask aged with an honest, old-school touch.
Food Pairing
Ideal with spicy dishes, red meats and rich Mediterranean dishes.
