De Chansac, Carignan Vieilles Vignes
Languedoc-Roussillon | France
Ripe red berry and vanilla aromas give way to rich bramble fruit, black cherries and velvety tannins. A truly elegant wine, made from 40 year old vines.
About the Producer
Created in 1999 in Carcassonne, South of France, LGI WINES was the brainchild of Alain Grignon who wanted to work with an international market. He wanted to offer an excellent quality/price ratio, spreading the good word of the wines of the South of France.
Half the fruit for this wine was quickly thermo-vinified, to extract maximum colour and fruit before cool fermentation at 20C to preserve fruitiness. The remainder was traditionally vinified in tank at 27-30C with pumping over and 20 days on the skins.
Ageing
5 months – French oak staves.
Food Pairing
This wine was made for chargrilled meat. It is also excellent with hearty winter casseroles or duck.
