Producer Information
Carlos Lucas is the guy behind the wine, a farmer first and foremost, but also a gifted winemaker with over 25 years of expertise in Portugal. He began the estate 15 years ago on land that had previously belonged to a local priest.

The vineyard is cultivated using traditional planting methods on poor granite soils with massive schist rocks, providing a spectacular view of the mountain Serra da Estrela. An integrated crop management system is used to grow the entire vineyard. The grapes were hand-picked into little boxes of 18kg after a thorough selection of the best grapes in the vineyard. The objective is to create wines that tell a narrative, that demonstrate their devotion and enthusiasm for Portuguese grape varietals, while never losing sight of the value of tradition and historical processes.

The grapes were fully destemmed and transferred to compact stainless steel containers, where they macerated for 24 hours at a low temperature before beginning fermentation with chosen yeast. The fermentation lasted 12 days with moderate pumping to ensure optimal colour and fragrance extraction. The wine was aged in stainless steel vats after fermentation.

Tasting Note
Cota 700 Dao is red, nearly violet in colour, with black mulberry and blackberry fragrances and a little pine needle flavour. The wine is young and very fresh, with a sweet but delicate taste.
