Champagne Bollinger Special Cuvee
Georges Bollinger’s British representative came up with the moniker Special Cuvée in 1911 – “special” written without an accent in English.
He didn’t think the French word “Brut sans année” was up to the task of describing such a delicate champagne… Bollinger’s essential figure champagne’s name still signifies both knowledge and history more than a century after.
To the eye, it has a golden colour that is characteristic of black grape types, with fine bubbles.
On the nose, there are notes of roasted apples, apple compote, and peaches, as well as ripe fruit and spicy scents.
The bubbles are silky like velvet, with pear, brioche, and spicy smells, as well as flavours of fresh walnut on the palate.
