The Rusty Nail team are crazy about craft spirits but we have a confession to make – that our first love was wine! Our sister company has been supplying the hospitality business with wines for two decades, therefore we have access to some real beauties and of course we wanted to share them with you.
If there is one thing that lockdown has taught us, it is that the appetite for wine is unabated. Suddenly we’re facing life with a little less sparkle and all the things we’ve taken for granted seem like a distant memory. We’ll take our treats where we can and decent wine is right up there.
We could have filled our wine page with hundreds of wines but we wanted to be a little more discerning so the team have picked our favourites and narrowed it down to our top 100 wines.
One of our top wine picks is the Gatito Loco Rioja Blanco produced by Bodegas Manzanos. A Vegan Wine and Organic Wine bursting with tropical fruit this is unlike any other White Rioja we’ve tasted and a steal at £9.48 a bottle.
Travelling to Greece may be challenging these days with the current quarantine restrictions in place so let us bring a pearl of a wine to you from the Attika region, the third generation of the Papagiannakos family produce wonderfully polished wines and we can’t get enough of this red. The Erythros is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and the Greek grape Agiorgitiko (pronounced Ah-Yor-YEE-Te-Ko), if you enjoy robust red wines with plenty of ripe dark fruit, sweet spice and delicate oak flavours you’re gonna love this. It’s also a red wine suitable for Vegans and at £13.76 a bottle it’s a perfect weekend wine.
