Cotswolds Old Tom Gin 50cl, 42%

This gin was created by Alice Pearson, the Cotswolds Distillery’s Lead New Product Development Distiller, and is a blend of Alice’s favourite botanicals, as well as some traditional flavours found in Old Tom recipes dating back to the 1700s.

Sweet aromas of fresh orange peel, delicate ginger spice, and warm hints of cardamom characterise Cotswolds Old Tom Gin.

They put botanicals like juniper, coriander, angelica, fresh orange peel, liquorice root, crushed ginger, caraway, and cardamom in their 50-litre Holstein still, Valerie, along with 60% ABV ‘neutral grain spirit,’ a flavourless base alcohol derived from wheat. They then continue distillation, taking only the cleanest part of the run known as the ‘hearts,’ before adding a touch of sugar syrup and filtered water to get the final bottling down to 42% ABV in accordance with traditional Old Tom recipes.

The aroma is delicate and sweet, with tones of fragrant orange peel and subtle herbal notes. On the palate, candied orange with a hint of ginger spice.
With undertones of cardamom and Seville orange, the finish is sweet and sticky.

Perfect Serve Nailed!

We like our Old Tom neat with a twist of fresh orange peel, but for a longer drink, try preparing a Tom Collins cocktail with lemon juice, soda, and sugar syrup.
