2 Great Cocktails: The Margarita and The Rusty Margarita

The Rusty Cocktail Guru strikes again with not only a classic Margarita Recipe but a special Margarita with a fiery twist!

We wanted to celebrate National Margarita Day (February 22nd) with a bang and this cocktail did not disappoint.
Both cocktails use the classic ingredients of a Reposado Tequila and an orange Liqueur for which we chose the Batanga Reposado and the famous Gabriel Boudier Curacao Triple Sec Liqueur.

Batanga Tequila is traditionally distilled using 100% agave grown on one estate in the heart of Jalisco Mexico. Only the best agaves are used, all the agave is harvested in the Tequila Valley and exclusively in the Orendain plantation. Batanga Reposado is aged of 4 – 6 months, which is double the minimum time required of 2 months. A fresh and vibrant nose of grass and pepper. Subtle oak plays a complementary role on a palate which shows great refinement and integration, with a crisp flavoursome finish.

The house of Gabriel Boudier has extensive liqueur knowledge and expertise of more than 140 years. Over the decades, Boudier has invented and diversified into an exceptional range of liqueurs and crème de fruits. The Triple Sec is no exception. The tiny Curaçao oranges have highly aromatic skins, their zest is removed and distilled in their 170 year old alambic still. The spirit is then aged in glass demijohns for several months to help bring out the renowned aromas of elegant, bitter orange.
