In 1865, two Norwegians, Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn, created Wiese & Krohn, which initially shipped throughout Scandinavia and Germany. Krohn has established an enviable reputation in the century and a half since its founding. They offer a wonderfully complete variety for a small house, and each wine shines in its category.
They are long recognised for the quality of their magnificent Colheitas (single vintage tawnies), but they also produce a remarkably complete range for a small house.
Krohn’s ‘entry level’ Ruby Port is mature and adaptable, with a deep crimson colour and a concentration of fresh, plummy fruit aromas and traces of spice, unlike most Ruby Ports. The palate is rich and full, with a mellow finish, with plenty of vibrant cherry and curranty black fruit.
